A Community College housed within a Polytechnic College will have the following basic features:

  • Open enrolment for the community (few basic eligibility criteria, which may also vary slightly by course)
  • Affordable programs – to be inclusive to underprivileged communities
  • Multiple entry-exit mechanisms – at 6 months, students may leave with a certificate, at two years, they may leave with an advanced certificate, and at three years, they may leave with a diploma
  • Comprehensive industry linkages – industries/ employers will be involved at all levels, such as curriculum development, guest lectures, assessment partners, exposure visits, On the Job Training/ internships, and certification, if the industry partner wishes to certify trainees themselves. This would ensure that trainees get placed after completing the program.
